How to deep clean your car interior yourself
≈ 120 min
Short answer
Vacuum first, then clean from the top down: headliner, seats, leather, carpets, plastics, glass. Use gentle SoftCleaner on the headliner and Alcantara, InteriorCleaner foam and a brush on fabric, and LeatherCleaner on leather, then nourish it with LeatherLotion. Wipe up the dirt straight away with a damp microfiber and let the interior dry well.

Step by step
Empty and vacuum
Remove mats, belongings and child seats. Vacuum the headliner, seats, seams and floor.
Headliner and Alcantara
Apply SoftCleaner to a microfiber or soft brush, not directly to the headliner, and work the area gently. It's a delicate formula that leaves almost no streaks and doesn't mat the fibers, so the headliner and Alcantara stay soft.
Fabric seats: apply cleaner as foam
Dilute InteriorCleaner as instructed and pour it into a Foamer — foam doesn't soak through the upholstery.
Agitate and wipe up the dirt
The Interior Brush lifts dirt out of fabric. Work in sections of about 30×30 cm and wipe each one right away with a damp Terry Towel, turning it often.
Clean the leather
Apply LeatherCleaner and work it in with a soft Leather Brush. Clean seams and perforation with the Bamboo Brush, then wipe up the dirt with a microfiber.
Nourish the leather
Apply LeatherLotion with a microfiber to clean, dry leather, let it soak in for 3–5 minutes and buff off the excess with a dry towel. The leather stays soft, with no greasy shine.
Carpets and mats
Use CarpetCleaner for floor coverings — it's made for heavy soiling.
Plastics
Apply VinylMatt Wood to plastics for a matte, protected finish.
Glass
Spray GlassCleaner and wipe the inside of the windows, then buff dry with a Glass Towel — no streaks or lint.
Let it dry
Leave the doors open or run the heater — damp upholstery can start to smell.
Common mistakes
- Spraying directly onto the headliner — it soaks through and can sag
- Scrubbing Alcantara with a stiff brush — the nap gets matted
- Applying lotion to dirty leather — the dirt gets rubbed into the pores
- Soaking the seats — the foam padding gets wet and starts to smell
- Cleaning bottom-up — dirt drips onto clean areas
- Closing the car while it's still damp
Questions and answers
How do I clean a car headliner?
With gentle SoftCleaner: apply it to a microfiber or soft brush rather than the headliner itself. It leaves almost no streaks and doesn't mat the fibers.
How long does the interior take to dry?
With foam application, 2–4 hours with the doors open or heater on. Up to a day if the seats got soaked.
How do I clean leather seats?
Use a dedicated gentle pH-neutral cleaner — LeatherCleaner — with a soft Leather Brush, and the Bamboo Brush for seams. Then nourish the leather with LeatherLotion.
How often should I deep clean the interior?
A deep clean once or twice a year; a light clean with a plastic cleaner once a month. Treat leather with lotion every 1–2 months.
