Robotic car wash chemicals: the Shine Systems three-phase process
A robotic wash runs without staff, so the result depends entirely on the chemicals and their order. We recommend three phases: alkaline PreWash removes road grime, acidic AcidShampoo neutralizes the alkali and removes mineral film, and wax or GlossProtection adds gloss, water beading and fast drying.
Who it's for
Opening a robotic wash
We'll match chemicals to your robot and dosing system, help set dilutions at launch and calculate the cost per car.
Improving quality
Film, streaks, cars leaving wet or dirty lower panels usually come down to the phase order and the second-phase shampoo. We'll review your program and suggest a fix.
Three wash phases
Robotic car wash manufacturers, including Chinese ones, recommend an acid shampoo for the second phase: after alkaline chemistry it neutralizes the residue and prevents film. Our program follows the same logic.
Phase 1 — PreWash, alkaline pre-wash
A high-surfactant touchless active shampoo. It dissolves road film, oily and salty grime and lifts it off the paint before the robot continues. Dwell 2–3 minutes, then rinse at high pressure.
PreWash, 20 kg1:50–1:150 — dosing pump (DOSATRON), foam generator; 1:5–1:15 — foam lance
Phase 2 — AcidShampoo, acid shampoo
Neutralizes alkaline residue, removes calcium deposits and water spots and creates an acidic surface where wax and coatings bond evenly and last longer. Used regularly, it extends the life of existing waxes, quartz and ceramic coatings.
AcidShampoo, 20 L1:7–1:10 — foam lance; for robot dosing systems we set the dilution for your equipment
Phase 3 — wax or GlossProtection
Final protection and drying. Wax breaks the water film, adds beading and gloss, and the car dries faster under the robot's blowers. GlossProtection is an SiO₂ nano sealant: more gloss and color depth, antistatic and self-cleaning effect, ideal for maintaining ceramic and glass coatings.
BubbleWax, 20 LBubbleWax: 20–30 ml of concentrate per car in an automatic system
UniversalWax, 5 LUniversalWax: 1:100–1:200 — sprayer; 1:10–1:20 — foam lance, PROMAX doser
GlossProtection, 5 LGlossProtection: 20–30 ml per 1 l — foam lance, PROMAX doser
Why PreWash for phase one
Gentle surfactants
A blend of anionic and nonionic surfactants removes road grime while staying gentle on paint, plastic, rubber and chrome, and doesn't strip existing protection.
Works in hard water
Chelating agents keep it effective even in very hard, iron-rich water — no hazy film or streaks.
Phosphate-free, with corrosion inhibitors
Safer for equipment, bay plumbing and treatment systems, and protects the robot's metal parts.
Highly concentrated
Dilutes up to 1:150 through a dosing pump — low consumption and cost per wash.
Rich foam
Thick foam clings to vertical panels, and customers can see the car is really being washed.
Built for 2- and 3-phase washing
Designed for Shine Systems two- and three-phase processes and pairs well with an acid shampoo.
How to improve robotic wash quality
- Don't skip phase two: without an acid shampoo, alkaline film stays on the paint and wax goes on patchy.
- Check water hardness. Use reverse osmosis water for the final rinse to avoid spots after drying.
- Apply wax or GlossProtection only to a wet, rinsed car and don't let it dry.
- Check dosing pumps and nozzles weekly: a clogged nozzle means an unwashed stripe.
- In summer and on hot panels, shorten dwell times so chemicals don't dry.
- Offer a premium program with GlossProtection — visible gloss and a reason to come back.
Common mistakes
- One phase for everything — alkaline shampoo without neutralization leaves film and streaks
- Overly strong solutions — higher consumption, damaged seals and coatings
- Wax on a dry or poorly rinsed car
- Drying without wax — blowers push water around and leave drops
- Hard water for the final rinse

FAQ
What chemicals does a robotic car wash need?
At least three: an alkaline touchless pre-wash shampoo (PreWash), an acid shampoo for phase two (AcidShampoo) and a wax or nano sealant for the finish (BubbleWax, UniversalWax or GlossProtection).
Why use an acid shampoo in a robotic wash?
It neutralizes the alkaline shampoo from phase one, removes mineral film and water spots and prepares the surface for wax. Robot manufacturers, including Chinese ones, recommend it.
Wax or GlossProtection for phase three?
Wax is the base option: beading, gloss and fast drying. GlossProtection adds more gloss and depth, antistatic and self-cleaning — great for a premium program.
Will Shine Systems chemicals work with a Chinese robot?
Yes. They run through standard dosing systems; we set the dilution for your equipment at launch.
What is the chemical cost per wash?
It depends on dilution, program and water hardness. Send a request and we'll calculate it for your wash and send wholesale prices.
